Cookie policy

What are cookies and why are they important ?

Cookies are small text files that websites store on your computer or mobile device. They collect information about - for example - your personal preferences, your visits to websites and your device in order to improve the functionality and user experience of those sites. Some cookies directly or indirectly collect personal data and are therefore privacy sensitive. They are therefore also subject to European and Belgian legislation. The use of cookies is regulated by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union through Directive 2002/58/EC on the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector.

All EU Member States have now transposed this directive into national law. This means that the use of cookies and cookie legislation is regulated differently in each European country.

In Belgium, this is done via an adapted version of Article 129 of the Electronic Communications Act of 13 June 2005.

Use of cookies
During your visit to the website, cookies may be used, small pieces of information that are placed on your computer's hard drive. The next time you visit this site, they will make it easier for you to navigate because, for example, you will not have to log in again or re-enter your preferences or password. The information collected by these cookies can be used to create a profile that ensures that the information offered is better suited to your wishes and preferences. For example, the website may use Google Analytics cookies to collect information about how visitors use the website in order to optimise the website according to the needs of our users. Cookies may also be placed for research and statistical purposes by the website or by the website's research partners.

You can set your browser to notify you each time a cookie is created or when cookies are refused. In addition, you can delete cookies from your hard drive at any time. Google itself provides more details about privacy and cookies on the Google privacy page and also provides a browser plug-in that allows you to unsubscribe from Google Analytics on all websites.

Which cookies do we use, for what purposes ?

Types of cookies
Different types of cookies may be used on the Website:

Essential cookies
Essential cookies are cookies that are necessary for the (better) functioning of the Website. Without these cookies, some parts of the Website will not function or will not function optimally. These cookies do not collect any data that can be used for marketing purposes or to remember your surfing history.

Functional cookies
Functional cookies collect information about the choices and preferences of visitors and allow language and other local settings to be remembered and personalized. The information these cookies collect is stored anonymously.

Tracking cookies
These cookies will survive user sessions. When the maximum age of a permanent cookie is set to 1 year, within that year the initial value contained in that cookie will be sent back to the server each time the user visits the server. This is done to store essential information (such as how the user initially came to the website). That is why they are also called tracking cookies. For example, once you have chosen your preferred language, the Website will record your preference in a permanent cookie and store it on your browser. When you subsequently visit the Website again, the Website will use that persistent cookie to ensure that the content is delivered in the language of your choice.

Performance cookies
These cookies help to improve the performance of the Website to provide a better user experience. Forchettaevino uses Google Analytics for this purpose. Google Analytics uses cookies to help us analyse how users use the Website. It records the number of visitors and provides us with information about overall visitor behaviour - such as the typical duration of a visit to the Website or the number of pages a user views on average.

Targeting or advertising cookies
Targeting or advertising cookies track (the surfing behaviour of) visitors in order to compile customer or user profiles. These profiles are usually used to display relevant and personalised advertisements that match the interests of the corresponding users. They are also used to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns and to carry out market analyses.

Third party cookies
To support its forms of communication, Forchettaevino has anchored its content in social media channels such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Forchettaevino also uses the sharing possibilities on social networks. The channels Forchettaevino uses may contain cookies from these websites. Would you like more information about these cookies? Then you need to consult the relevant website of these 'third parties'.

Social media and related plug-ins
A lot of social media (such as Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Google+, Tumblr, ...) receive information about your surfing behaviour via social plug-ins on their websites (e.g. via the "Like" or "Share" buttons). These buttons can also be found on the Website. If you wish to protect yourself against this, it is recommended (by the Center for the Privacy Protection, among others) to take one of the measures below.
  • Install a browser add-on that blocks tracking. Examples of such browser add-ons are:
OR
  • Use the incognito or "private nagivation" mode of your browser. Recent versions of the most common browsers offer such a private mode as functionality:

This function forces the browser to erase traces of your surfing behaviour (cookies, history, etc.) after the window is closed and thus protects you from being followed by third parties (please note: this function does not make you anonymous on the web). There are also special privacy protecting browsers, such as Epic Privacy Browser (www.epicbrowser.com). Social media and other websites use information about the surfing behaviour of its users to offer them targeted advertising. If you no longer wish to be tracked for targeted advertising, you may opt-out of being tracked for targeted advertising through the opt-out website of the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (www.youronlinechoices.eu)

Unsubscribing from targeted ads does not mean that no more information about your browsing behavior will be collected. If you also wish to protect yourself against the collection of this information, we recommend that you also use your browser's incognito mode or use one of the above browser add-ons.

We recommend that you read the privacy and cookie statements below regularly:
